Kalen DeBoer adds the finishing touches to his coaching staff

Ahead of the start of spring practices, Kalen DeBoer names the final pieces of his coaching staff. DeBoer names Bryan Ellis the tight ends coach, Chris Kapilovic the offensive line coach, and Christian Robinson the outside linebackers coach.
“We were able to also secure three of the finest coaches in the nation to finish out our staff with the hiring of Bryan Ellis, Chris Kapilovic and Christian Robinson,” DeBoer said. “Chis is one of the most respected offensive line coaches in the game with a reputation for recruiting and developing his players. Christian does an outstanding job of building relationships on both the recruiting trail and in his position room, where he gets the absolute best of his players. Ellis is one of the best offensive minds in college football and is a perfect fit for our staff.”
Ellis heads to Tuscaloosa after two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Georgia Southern. Kapilovic and Robinson both head to Alabama from Baylor. Kapilovic was hired at Baylor in December and Robinson served as the inside linebackers coach of the Bears in 2023.
During his time at Georgia Southern, Ellis helped the eagles become one of the most dangerous offenses in the country as the finished in the top 30 nationally in completion percentage and passing offense. Before making the move to Georgia Southern Ellis spent time at Western Kentucky and Southern California.
Before Kapilovic was hired at Baylor, he spent time at Michigan State where he served as the offensive line coach, run game coordinator, and eventually added assistant head coach to his resume. Kapilovic has also made coaching stops at Colorado, North Carolina, Southern Miss, Missouri State, Alabama State, and Phoenix College.
Before he was named to the Baylor coaching staff, Robinson spent the 2022 season at Auburn as the linebackers coach. Robinson also spent four seasons at Florida where he also served as the linebackers coach.
While appropriate members of The Board of Trustees have been notified of the proposed terms and conditions of this proposed appointment, the financial terms remain subject to approval by The Board of Trustees.
