The Montgomery Greek Festival will take place on June 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Annunciation of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church.
Organizers say this is a great opportunity to sample Greek food and culture without having to leave the River Region.
In addition to the food and pastries, they will be offering church tours and cooking demonstrations.
From savory spanakopita (spinach pie) to baklava, festival goers taste buds will delight in dining on a cuisine recognized around the world.
Each meal consists of either chicken or lamb, Greek green beans, a spanakopita and a tiropita, and Greek salad. For a vegetarian option, a large spanakopita is available complete with Greek green beans, a tiropita, and Greek salad.
The Greek cooking demonstrations are supported by the Alabama Folklife Association. Three, 30-minute sessions will be conducted, at 11am, 1pm, and 5pm. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
Chicken or lamb plates are $20. Vegetarian plates are $15 for a large spanakopita (spinach pie), Greek green beans, small tiropita, and Greek salad.
Annunciation of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church is located at 1721 Mt. Meigs Road in Montgomery.
