Pay It Forward: Julia Barron
Julia Barron is the Spanish liaison at Wetumpka Elementary School.
She has taught for 23 years.
“The reason I help my special ESL, I know how difficult it was for me to learn English and I dedicated my time to them. I wanted them to be more successful than I was, than I am,” said Barron.
But her care for her students reaches far beyond the classroom.
“I nominated Ms. Barron because she does so much more than just a liaison for our Spanish community. She went out of her way this summer to go and help gather food from food pantries and gather clothes for those who couldn’t afford it. She also spends after hours on the phone, not only with students, with parents, helping them learn to speak English. She goes above and beyond what an aid should have to,” said fellow teacher Makenzie Tucker.
