WAKA Action 8 News takes home 3 trophies at 2025 ABBY Awards
WAKA Action 8 News took home three trophies at this year’s Alabama Broadcasters Association ABBY Awards.
The ABBY Awards are held annually in Birmingham and recognizes the best in television and radio across the state.
News Anchor/Reporter Estee Morrison won the ABBY Award for General Assignment Reporting, for her story which featured a Montgomery emergency room doctor talking about his experience treating gunshot victims in the city.
Estee, along with Multimedia Journalist Carrington Cole, was awarded the Judges’ Award of Merit for Hard News for a piece they did on a Montgomery teen robbed at gunpoint.

Also, Sports Anchor/Reporter Julianna Reichenbach won an ABBY Award for Sports Reporting on a story she did late last year on the War Eagle Dive Club in Auburn.
News Producer Acasia George won a $5,000 scholarship from the ABA.
The awards were given out at a ceremony at The Club on Saturday night.
