Pay It Forward: David Brunson of Wetumpka
David Brunson has been a volunteer firefighter for 25 years. He retired with the Elmore County EMA after 17 years. But he continues to serve others.
“Well, the story I like to tell about when I realized what a servant heart David has is when I saw him on a very hot August day come out in our full mascot regalia and walk around and greet a bunch of second graders. And after he finished that, he took off the costume, and he was sweating profusely, and he went right about helping us clean up the event. I said that’s a good man right there and that’s the way he approaches everything. It doesn’t matter what it cost him personally it’s about serving others and making this a great place to live,” said his nominator Bethany Elliott.
Brunson is always ready to help someone in need.
“It’s like the fire chief with Santuck and I were coming back from eating breakfast this morning. We noticed a guy that was in the ditch and we stopped, turned around, pulled over, and got him out of the ditch. So that’s just what you do,” said Brunson.
For all he does for Elmore County and beyond, Stewart Vance of the Vance Law Firm is paying it forward to him $333.
“I’ve been doing it all my life. My parents were very active with schools in the community, so it’s something that we do. My entire family does it that way. That’s what God put us on the Earth for,” said Brunson.
