Pine Level holds mental health conference
Town leaders in Pine Level are helping residents learn about mental health services available to them.
The town hosted a community mental health conference yesterday, where dozens of community members got to hear from a mental health officer from the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office and members from Carastar, a mental health nonprofit center.
The community learned about the warning signs of mental health disorders, how families can support their loved ones and several treatment options available to them, such as therapy.
“People are very weary of going to a bigger city and also worry about someone knowing that they’re going to get mental health services, all of our services are confidential,” Carastar Health therapist Mary Fitzpatrick said.
“I understand from a perspective somewhat of what they’re dealing with as an army veteran who has also dealt with PTSD, where they’re coming from in their time of crisis,” Autauga County Sheriff’s Office mental health investigators Rico Hardnett said.
