Central Alabama Community Foundation awards shelter and social service grants
The Central Alabama Community Foundation has presented $144,862 in shelter and social service grants to nonprofit organizations across the River Region.
At a ceremony today at the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, the grants were given to nonprofits that provide housing assistance and social service programs .throughout the River Region.
Here is the list of the organizations receiving grants:
$18,000.00 to Fishers Farm to replace outdated, worn furniture in the residential recovery home for men overcoming addiction and homelessness in Montgomery County.
$12,250.00 to Grove MGM to provide meals, cooking and cleaning supplies, experiences, honorarium, Uber/bus vouchers, work uniforms and shoes for all residents as they age out of Foster Care, as well as bedding, laptop/printer and towels for 3 new residents.
$12,000.00 to Friendship Mission, Inc. to support emergency shelter operations’ purchase of food and related meal service items to make meals for shelter residents and soup kitchen guests.
$9,500.00 to Quiet Storm Outreach Group, LLC to provide temporary housing placement, meals/food service, hygiene supplies/materials, gas and car maintenance for essential support services to people experiencing homelessness in the River Region.
$9,975.00 to Child Protect, Inc. to provide forensic interviews and trauma informed counseling at no charge to victims or their families in Montgomery County.
$15,000.00 to Sight Savers America to provide free vision screenings for 700 children and follow-up services for 70 children in Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery counties.
$13,137.00 to Kid One Transport to provide a bridge to health care by covering the insurance cost of one transport unit based in the Montgomery Region used to transport children and expectant mothers in Montgomery County, Lowndes County, and Macon County.
$5,000.00 to Alabama Kidney Foundation to serve kidney patients in Montgomery, Macon and Lowndes counties by providing assistance through the Daily Living Needs (DLN) Program and the Alabama Transportation Assistance Program (ATAP).
$5,500.00 to the Community of Hope, Inc. to purchase and install a truck liftgate to increase efficiency and decrease the risk of injury loading and unloading groceries and furniture to meet the needs of those served in the River Region.
$8,000.00 to Southeastern Diabetes Education Services to support the direct costs of instruction, nutrition, medical & activity supplies at Camp Seale Harris for 10 Montgomery area children with diabetes receiving financial aid of $800 each for Camp fees.
$2,500.00 to Friendship Mission, Inc. to create a strategic plan for sustainable financial, programming, and leadership infrastructures to continue to serve as the only comprehensive homeless shelter program in the Montgomery area.
$2,500.00 to Brantwood Children’s Home to create a strategic outreach and marketing plan to promote efforts and events by setting up a consistent content calendar, creating compelling graphics and videos, writing engaging captions, refining visual identity (logos, colors, templates) and analyzing performance metrics.
$3,000.00 to Habitat for Humanity of Autauga and Chilton Counties to support the Critical Home Repair Program which directly impacts low-income homeowners in Autauga County through fundamental and critical home repairs.
$3,000.00 to Quiet Storm Outreach Group, LLC to serve homeless and disadvantaged populations by offering temporary housing placement, food service and hygiene supplies.
$3,000.00 to Family Sunshine Center to provide safe shelter and supportive services in Autauga County at $101.32 per client, per day for 30 days.
$3,000.00 to Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center to provide forensic interviews, expert testimony, therapy, family advocacy/support services, MDT coordination, training and education for two Autauga County children victimized by abuse or neglect.
$2,000.00 to Alabama Kidney Foundation to serve kidney patients in Autauga County through the Foundation’s Financial Assistance Program by helping patients avert a crisis situation that impacts their health or welfare.
$3,000.00 to Sight Savers America to provide a high-tech low vision or blindness aid and case management service to one child in Autauga County with any remaining funds to be used for eye care follow-ups at $75 per child for those NOT funded by state contract.
$3,000.00 to Quiet Storm Outreach Group, LLC to serve homeless and disadvantaged populations by offering temporary housing placement, food service and hygiene supplies.
$3,000.00 to Family Sunshine Center to provide safe shelter and supportive services in Elmore County at $101.32 per client, per day for 30 days.
$3,000.00 to Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center to provide forensic interviews, expert testimony, therapy, family advocacy/support services, MDT coordination, training and education for two Elmore County children victimized by abuse or neglect.
$3,000.00 to Sight Savers America to provide a high-tech low vision or blindness aid and case management service to one child in Elmore County with any remaining funds to be used for eye care follow-ups at $75 per child for those NOT funded by state contract.
$2,500.00 to W.E.L.C.O.M.E., Inc. to assist individuals and families struggling with food insecurity by providing project support for fuel, pantry storage and delivery supplies, volunteer coordination materials, food transport equipment, and printing.
For more than 38 years, the Central Alabama Community Foundation has received support from individual and corporate donors, awarding more than $6 million each year in grants and scholarships to address diverse community needs.
