Troy University ensuring that military members can continue education during government shutdown
With federal funding for Military Tuition Assistance impacted by the ongoing government shutdown, Troy University is stepping up to ensure service members can continue their education without interruption through a TA scholarship for eligible service members.
All previously approved Military Tuition Assistance for Term 2, 2025 has been cancelled by the service branches. Now, Troy will offer a scholarship in the amount typically paid through Military Tuition Assistance for any actively serving member who has applied for Tuition Assistance or those receiving civilian military assistance.
Military students will also continue to benefit from the Troy Military and Family Scholarship, which reduces tuition to the Department of Defense approved rate of $250 per credit hour, which assures there are no out-of-pocket tuition expenses for service members using Tuition Assistance.
“There’s a lot of uncertainty going on with the government shutdown, and so Troy is committed to supporting our military students. However, we can,” Scot Brumbeloe, the director of veterans and military affairs at Troy University, said.
