Troy Football gives back to the local community with the help of the Lids Foundation & Shoes That Fits
Several Troy Football Players were joined by Head Coach Gerad Parker and Athletic Director Kyle George to give back to children in the Troy Community. With the help of the Lids Foundation and Shoes That Fit Organization, the Trojans were able to distribute a pair of shoes and a hat to each child at Troy Elementary School.
According to Parker, the Trojans’ job isn’t just to win football games on the field, but also to serve the community.
“It’s our job to serve our community, and that’s not just in winning football games. What a great, awesome environment for us to be able to be involved and be a part of helping the young children and the youth of our community,” explains Parker.
One of the many players present to help distribute items to students was senior safety, Devin Lafayette.
“Growing up I didn’t have an opportunity like this where you had people and football players there to support who come around and give out hats and shoes and stuff like that. You know it’s really a huge blessing to see these kids come in here and get these hats and these shoes and see the smiles on their faces for sure,” says Lafayette.
The Trojans return to the field on Thursday, November 13th at Old Dominion.
