Man arrested in Lowndes County murder
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for murder.
Investigators say on January 5, deputies were flagged down by a man on Golson Road in Fort Deposit.
The man told deputies that his nephew had been involved in a shooting that took place behind the Lowndes Middle School and wanted to turn himself into law enforcement.
Investigators say Carmello Brown made arrangements to sell a handgun to Ke’Juan Armstrong for $450 and the two were going to meet behind the school around 5:00 p.m.
After the transaction, Brown fired several rounds at the vehicle on the passenger side as he was driving off, striking Armstrong throughout the body.
Armstrong was taken to Greenville Hospital by another person driving the vehicle at the time of the incident. Armstrong later died from his injuries.
Brown was booked into the Lowndes County Jail and charged with murder and receiving stolen property 2nd degree.
