Hayden Stockton promoted to Head Football Coach at St. James
After serving as the strength and conditioning coach for the Trojans, Hayden Stockton earns the title of head coach of the Saint James Football Team. Stockton brings with him to the head coaching role 25 years of coaching experience, and he believes all his prior experiences makes him the right fit for the job.
“I think I have a lot of experience from coaching on a lot of different levels from 7A all the way down to 3A. I think this place is in enough repair, I’ve seen a lot of things not to do and I’ve seen a lot of things you need to do in order to be successful, and right now I think the things I can bring to this program can bring it back a little quicker than if someone was new to the situation or understanding a young coach. I have several guys that are going to be with me that are older coaches that have gone through things with me when we’ve coached together before, so they are going to know the system that’s going to implemented in a lot quicker and a lot faster and I think it’s going to let us move and progress quicker,” says Stockton.
Not only has Stockton had several years of coaching experience, he also has experience as a player at a high level. Stockton played college football at the University of Alabama from 1992-1996. During his time with the Tide he was a part of their 1992 National Championship.
“Coach Stockton brings a combination of experience, character, and roots in this community,”said Saint James Athletic Director Larry Ware. “He understands what it means to develop young men both on the field, and we are confident he will lead our program with integrity.”
