Hundreds crowded Millbrook for the Mardi Gras festival and parade
The largest Mardi Gras celebration north of Mobile happened Saturday in Millbrook.
Hundreds came out for all the festivities and fun as the day kicked off with the Mardi Gras festival. There were rides, blow up slides, along with dozens of food vendors and local businesses selling everything from food, clothes, souvenirs, and much more.
Then, the Millbrook Revelers kicked off the Mardi Gras parade. There were dozens of floats that rode threw the city of Millbrook throwing out beads, candy, moon pies, and even rubber ducks.
Action 8’s own Carrington Cole, Savanna Sabb, and Abby Payne were in the parade in the Thundertruck. After the parade, the festival and all the fun continued on throughout the day.
“We love coming out here every year. We love seeing the kids’ eyes light up when somebody is throwing beads, moon pies, candy, or something like that. We just have a really great time seeing the families get to be together, and they get to be with their friends. It’s just a great time with a good family friendly atmosphere,” said Frank Clem, of the Millbrook Revelers.
Clem continued on, saying that, “When the revelers come through, the three floats that came through, they throw a lot of stuff, and the kids get excited, the people get excited. When they come through their ready to throw this stuff, and they’ve been throwing for two miles, but they just keep on giving. We love that part.”
The Millbrook Revelers have been bringing the Mardi Gras fun to Millbrook since 2004.
