ACTION 8 UPDATE: Auburn police searching for shooting suspect

Auburn police have identified a suspect in a shooting at an apartment complex.

Police say they want to find Melvin Sabas Alexander Hernandez Davila, who faces warrants for attempted murder and robbery  in the first degree.

As Action 8 News has reported, the shooting happened at about 2:18PM yesterday at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Shelton Mill Road, which is off East University Drive. Police say a man was found with a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital in Columbus, Georgia, for treatment.

Nearby schools were placed in a secure state as a precaution just after the shooting.

Police say Hernandez Davila and the victim were acquainted, and the shooting was not random. They say Hernandez Davila, who often goes by “Alex,” was last seen with a dark beard, dressed in a dark colored hoodie and dark colored pants.
