An active weather pattern this week with multiple chances for rain

Monday morning was mainly cloudy in some locations thanks to a deck of low clouds in southeast Alabama. However, that cloud deck was mixing out Monday afternoon. The sky becomes partly to mostly sunny Monday afternoon with high temperatures in the mid 80s. Monday night looks partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the low to mid 60s. A few showers with perhaps some thunder may drift into parts of our area from the north late Monday night.

Much of Tuesday looks dry with a partly cloudy sky and warm with temperatures peaking in the mid 80s. However, strong to severe storms appear possible Tuesday night. The storm prediction center places the northwest part of our viewing area in a marginal (level 1/5) to slight (2/5) severe risk. Damaging wind gusts and large hail look like the main hazards. However, storms may only clip part of our area.

Although, chances for rain continue through the end of the week. A few storms may become severe Wednesday, capable mainly of damaging wind gusts and large hail. The storm prediction center places a marginal (1/5) severe risk across most of our area. A front slides through and south of our area Wednesday night. Showers or storms remain possible through Thursday morning, but should remain sub-severe behind the front.

The front may stall out near the gulf coast through Saturday. That leads to more rain and perhaps storms at times for south Alabama Friday and Saturday. Temperatures may also turn cooler behind the front, with highs in the 70s for the first few days of May. Our area trends drier Sunday into next week as the front moves off to our southeast. Meanwhile, high temperatures trend back into the 80s next week.
