Montgomery pub to host World Cup watch parties

MONTGOMERY, Ala (WAKA Action 8) – The 2026 FIFA World Cup has officially kicked off, and one Montgomery pub is getting into the soccer spirit.
Hilltop Public House owner Andrew Szymanski says tournament matches will be playing on their big screens with limited seating.
“We’ll be starting right about 5’oclock throughout all the pregame stuff. We’re having some food trucks up here. Of course, we’ll have all the drinks and beverages going and we’re just really excited because this is an exciting time,” says Szyamanski.
Szymanski says the goal is to give fans an unmatched atmosphere to cheer on their favorite teams from the opening whistle to the finals.
The FIFA World Cup is the most watched sporting event in the world. This year’s tournament is taking place on North American soil for the first time since 1994. Teams are competing in stadiums throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada.
“To have the world cup in the United States, to have the men’s team participating and right on the back of this wonderful event that happened up in Auburn. We know there’s a lot of soccer fans looking for a place to cheer the teams on,” says Szymanski.
Hilltop will have watch parties when the United States Men’s National team plays on June 12-th, 19-th, and the 25-th. They will also have one for the World Cup final on July 19-th.
