Man arrested in Alexander City shooting

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (WAKA) – Alexander City police have arrested a suspect in the city’s latest shooting.

It happened around 6:50 p.m. Monday at a home on Coley Creek Road.

While officers were responding, they saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

Officers made contact with the occupants who told them that a person inside the car had been shot.

Police say the victim, who had an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen, was treated and transported to the hospital for further treatment. He is currently in stable condition.

Officers continued to the home where another male was inside. The suspect, identified as Randy Joe Campbell, was taken into custody without further incident.

Campbell has been charged with 1st degree Domestic Violence and is currently in the Tallapoosa County Jail.
