TICKLED PINK: Cancer Wellness Foundation getting ready for Action 8’s big event
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Action 8 is getting ready to present this year’s Tickled Pink, which benefits the Cancer Wellness Foundation and the fight against breast cancer.
For a dozen years, this event has brought together medical professionals, cancer patients, survivors, their families and community leaders to enjoy a fun day that also has a lifesaving purpose.
Carol Gunter, the executive director of the Cancer Wellness Foundation, says this event is important. There will be a mobile unit to provide mammograms, while others have medical information to share.
Tickled Pink is a fundraiser for the Cancer Wellness Foundation, which serves 37 Alabama counties and people who have all forms of cancer with transportation, medications, nutrition, even wigs. Its services are free for those who qualify.
Last year, Gunter says the Cancer Wellness Foundation provided $37 million in medication grants along with 9,000 rides.
Tickled Pink will also have around 75 vendor booths, food, music, entertainment, children’s activities, games and giveaways. While the focus is on women’s health and breast cancer awareness, there is something for every member of your family.
Tickled Pink will be held at the Montgomery Biscuits’ DABOS Park on Saturday, October 3, from 9AM to 2PM. Tickets will be available soon.
