Still hot, humidity rises, cooling showers/storms return this weekend
Friday was mainly sunny and mainly dry once again, but temperatures were hotter than Thursday. High temperatures ranged from the low to mid 90s Friday, but fortunately heat indices were still mainly below 100°. However, humidity rises this weekend. Although, that provides fuel for afternoon showers and storms. Meanwhile, Friday evening and night remain dry with a mostly clear sky and low temperatures in the low 70s.
While higher humidity fuels cooling showers or storms Saturday, it also results in peak heat indices near or above 105°. As a result, a heat advisory was issued for central Alabama from 12PM to 8PM Saturday. Rain coverage becomes widely scattered Saturday afternoon, so at least some of our area receives cooling downpours. Saturday night becomes mainly dry, but rain coverage becomes widely scattered again Sunday.
