Hot, some showers/storms Friday; Rain chances rise this weekend
Friday morning was mainly dry with plenty of sunshine across central and south Alabama. However, some showers formed across mainly the southwest corner of the state with increasing clouds elsewhere around midday. Showers and perhaps some storms become widely scattered across our area Friday afternoon. That means some locations remain dry, where temperatures approach 90° with peak heat indices in the upper 90s.
Showers or storms may linger into Friday evening, but quickly fade away after sunset. The rest of Friday night looks mainly dry with a partly cloudy sky and lows near 70°. Saturday may also resemble a summer day, with showers and storms becoming scattered about during the afternoon/evening. Otherwise, the sky remains partly to mostly cloudy with high temperatures approaching 90°.
Cloud-cover and rain look more widespread Sunday. This could be the drought-relieving type rain our area needs. Models suggest some locations could get 1-2″ of rain with locally higher amounts. Rain appears possible throughout the day, and may be widespread at times. Otherwise, high temperatures may only be in the 70s. Showers remain possible through Sunday night.
