ONLY ON 8: Day 1 of Great Alabama 650 river race

ONLY ON 8 (WAKA) – The Great Alabama 650 is underway. It’s billed as the longest river race in the world.

Paddlers from all over the world are here to compete. Action 8 News has partnered with the Alabama Scenic River Trail to bring you exclusive coverage through the end of the race, on Tuesday, October 13 at Fort Morgan on the Mobile Bay.

The 650-mile journey began yesterday morning at Weiss Lake in Centre. Day one concluded in Gadsden.

Racers compete in the male, female and two-person tandem categories.
