Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office holds its annual “Night Out”
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has hosted its annual “Montgomery Night Out” to bring the community together with law enforcement.
The free event was held at the Shoppes at EastChase where residents had the chance to interact with local law enforcement while enjoying an evening of fun activities.
Night Out is an opportunity to bring communities together to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
Law enforcement agencies were present to show people exactly what their job is and to provide resources for the local communities. There was also a drawing for the neighborhood that had the most people come out to the event, where they could win Home Depot gift cards to help beautify their neighborhood.
“We in law enforcement, we work together, but that’s something that the community needs to know,” Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham told Action 8 News. “They may be asking a question about driver’s license, they may be asking a question about hunting and fishing, they might want to know how they can contact with our ambulance companies that are here, but that’s why they’re here. Come talk to these agencies. Find out what you need to do, what you can bring back to your community and the best part about it is you can come out here and talk to them and bring them back to your neighborhood.”
Montgomery Night Out was held last night from 5PM-7PM.
