Crime Stoppers hosts Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser
Hundreds of golfers hit the links at the Robert Trent Jones golf course in Prattville to help fight crime around the state.
Crime Stoppers hosted its annual golf tournament this afternoon at the Capitol Hill golf course.
The tournament raised $164,000 dollars — to help fund the organization’s general operations.
Organizers say the support the program receives from the community has been tremendous.
“We’re happy that we see the support that we’re getting. We now serve 37 counties. That’s equivalent to about 147 law enforcement agencies,” said Executive Director Tony Garrett.
“So, if you want to support what we’re doing in the state of Alabama and you want to give to Crime Stoppers, you either pick up the phone and call us at 215-STOP, 334. Or you can go to our website which is www 215 STOP.com.”
“Crime Stoppers is a great program,” said Selma Police Chief Ettice Brickus.
“What it does is allows the community to get involved. Public safety is everyone’s issue. And you can provide tips and you can do it in a manner that is safe.”
Garrett says Crime Stoppers is also involved in youth sports — life skills — and conflict resolution programs.
