From Elmore County — family members of a man found dead outside his home are waiting for answers as to how he died. Deputies say the man’s preliminary autopsy came back inconclusive, but they’re still not ruling out homicide as a cause of death. 63-year-old Stanley Thornton body’s was found yesterday outside his home on Chana Creek Road, about three miles east of Eclectic. Investigators say he suffered head injuries. But they’re still working to determine if anyone else is responsible for hurting him. Bertha Anderson is 101 years old. She never imagined her son, Thornton, would leave this world before she did. “Somehow or another I can’t cry about this. It’s hard, it’s hard,” Said Anderson, who lived with Thornton. She says he was taking care of her. For now, she’s surrounded by family and friends, all of them awaiting for answers about what happened. But outside her home, Elmore County deputies are searching the Chana Creek Road area for clues on what they’re calling a death investigation — at least for now. Anderson says she found her son about 15 feet from the back porch. “He was stretched out with his head to the west and he had his shoes off,” She Said. “Whether he was living when they brought him and dumped him, I don’t know who did it, but somebody had to.” For now, investigators are trying to search for any clues to see what the circumstances are of Thornton’s death. “We have a couple of people of interest that were trying to seek out and find were actually going up to Talladega County to talk to somebody,” Said Sheriff, Bill Franklin. Until his family can get answers, the hurt isn’t going away… “I’m going to miss him he was my right-hand man,” Said Anderson. Sheriff Franklin says he hopes to have some more answers on what exactly happened within the next 24 to 48 hours. If you have any information on Thornton’s death call Crimestoppers at 215-STOP.
