The name behind decades of bluegrass music in Pike County, is now on display for drivers to see.

A ceremony was held along the road of Rex Locklar’s Bluegrass Festival. It’s been held in Henderson since the 1960’s.

Locklar was the man behind the festival and he died a year ago.

The Pike County Commission made it possible to rename the County Road the Rex Locklar Memorial Bluegrass Highway.

Pete Austin, Helped Organize Bluegrass Festival said, “And to be able to honor Mr. Rex with the road is just fantastic.” Wiley Locklar, Rex’s brother said, “He’d say let’s get away from here and get some bluegrass music going.”

The bluegrass pickers are in Henderson through this weekend they hope to the keep the tradition going once a year for many more years to come.
