MOBILE, AL — At his Nick’s Kids charity golf event, Alabama coach Nick Saban shared his thoughts on several SEC rules.

Saban explained why the power 5 conferences should be on a level playing field, and what he thinks about the new SEC rule banning coaches from signing players who have been officially disciplined by the university.

“We should have the same rules in the SEC as all the other Big 5 schools have,” said Saban. “Because now we’re not just talking about the SEC. We’re talking about having a playoff, no different than the NFL. One division in the NFL doesn’t have different rules, different salary cap, different anything because the league knows that parody is the best competitive balance that you can create.”

The charity golf tournament Saban hosted was a success. He and his wife Terry started Nick’s Kids in 1998. Last year it contributed $418,644 to different organizations.
