Elmore County High School Suspending Football Program for One Week After Three Players Test Positive for COVID-19
Elmore County High School is suspending more athletic programs due to COVID-19.
On Tuesday, September 29, Elmore County High School announced they will suspend varsity football for one week. Three players tested positive and fifteen others are self-isolated due to exposure to a positive case of COVID-19.
ADPH guidelines require 10 days self-isolation for positive cases of COVID-19, and the AHSAA requires an additional 5 days of re-acclimation before a student returns to competition.
School officials and coaching staff will re-evaluate the teams’s health status on October 5 and discuss options.
This is the third Elmore County School to suspend athletic program. Wetumpka High School suspended football for one week and Elmore County High School suspended volleyball for two weeks last week.
