Derrion Reid, Incoming Tide, Makes USA Basketball U18 Team

Derrion Reid, an incoming freshman for Alabama men’s basketball, has made the 2024 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team roster. The USA Men’s Junior National Team Committee made the announcement Tuesday following a  four-day training camp in Colorado Springs. Reid will be one of 12 players to represent the United States in the 2024 FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup from June 3 to June 9.

The 6-foot-8 forward now becomes the second Crimson Tide to earn a spot on the U.S. U18 National Team, following JaMychal Green’s inclusion in 2008.

Reid is a consensus 5-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American. ESPN ranks Reid as the No. 11 overall recruit, positioning him as the fourth-highest rated recruit in program history. Only Collin Sexton, Brandon Miller, and JD Davison were ranked higher.

In the upcoming FIBA U18 Men’s AmeriCup, Team USA will compete in Group B against Argentina, Belize, and Brazil. Team USA tips off versus Argentina on June 3 at 6:10 p.m.. Then it will face   Belize and Brazil on June 4 and June 5, respectively, both scheduled for 3:40 p.m.
