Montgomery Police Academy graduates new officers
Over a dozen new law enforcement officers are set to hit the street in communities around the state after graduating from the Montgomery Police Academy.
Sixteen new crime fighters walked across the stage at ASU’s Hardy Center — to accept graduation certificates — along with a mission to protect and serve.
Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed says adding more officers — proactive policing — and increased community involvement — will help reverse the rising trend of violent crime in the city.
“It’s going to take time. It’s going to take effort and resources,” said Reed.
“And I believe if we follow through on that along with investing in public safety, along with making sure they have the best training and resources and equipment they can have. Then we can start to turn this around.”
ASU President Dr. Quinton Ross — gave the commencement address — at the graduation ceremony.
