Man accused of stealing thousands from grocery store employer

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

Authorities in Dallas County arrest a Valley Grande man. He’s suspected of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from his employer.

Forty-eight year old Lowell Furlow is charged with Theft-of-Property first-degree.

Waka Dctheft0813 SotvoSheriff Mike Granthum says Furlow has stolen nearly $60,000 dollars from Dave’s Market since January. He says Furlow has worked at the supermarket for about 14 years.

“People would call in and they would order their groceries. And they had a delivery service and he would go deliver the groceries to these people’s houses,” said Granthum.

“And if the person paid in a check of course he was going to put that check in the cash register. But if were paying cash instead of getting it back to the grocery store where his employer had faith in him to do it, he would stick that money in his pocket.”

Furlow was arrested and taken to jail Tuesday.

His bond was set at $30,000 dollars.
