Central Alabama CrimeStoppers launches “Text to Tip”
Central Alabama CrimeStoppers has announced a new way for people so submit tips on crime investigations anonymously.
It is now offering “text-to-tip.” You can text keyword 215stop to 738477 from your cell phone to provide information.
CrimeStoppers says it’s close to reaching a milestone of 16,000 tips being received since its beginning in 1997.
CrimeStoppers says it’s never identified a tipster in those 27 years. It has 121 law enforcement partners that have produced nearly 11,000 felony charges in that time. In the last 20 months, CrimeStoppers says it’s helped put 51 suspects behind bars on murder charges.
CrimeStoppers has paid out more than $291,000 in cash rewards for information.
CrimeStoppers now offers four ways to submit anonymous tips:
