PERC Selma gives residents a voice in the grant process
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Millions of federal dollars could be on the way to Selma to help improve living conditions in the city.
City leaders are reaching out to the community for help — to determine the best ways to use federal grant money.
The Selma CNTR is heading up the outreach effort.
Executive Director Ainka Jackson says residents are needed to help create a community action plan.
“This initiative was created to give community voice to government. And so that is not just about government. But it’s community voice in government,” said Jackson.
“And so our role as the community steward for the grant is to ensure the community gets to decide how the funds are spent.”
