Rural Aviation Consortium provides pathway to aviation career
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
A partnership between Wallace Community College Selma — the Craig Field Airport Authority — and Marion Military Institute — aims to transform the Black Belt region — through aviation.
It’s called the Rural Aviation Consortium. And its goal is to provide students with a pathway to a career in aviation.
Officials say the new program is modeled after the famed Tuskegee Airmen program.
“Maintenance, pilots, avionics, air traffic control. It’s a worldwide demand right now. And we hopefully can feed that demand,” said Craig Field Airport Authority Executive Director, Jim Corrigan.
“Give youths the opportunity to travel worldwide, to be employed anywhere.”
