A large fire has caused major damage in downtown Union Springs.
The fire appears to have started in the overnight hours. Smoke can still be seen after daybreak today.
Action 8 News has received photos from retired Macon County Emergency Management Agency Director Frank Lee.
He said several buildings have been destroyed and a mutual aid call was issued so that other fire departments can help.
The fire happened on North Prairie Street in an area that housed the Union Springs Pharmacy and the La Azteca restaurant.
The video below comes from Attorney Johnny Adams, the sponsor of Action 8’s Weather Authority. Adams is the District 2 Commissioner on the Bullock County Commission.
