Colder air will follow today’s rain

The rain stayed light in most areas Wednesday morning, totaling only eight hundredths of an inch at Montgomery through 10 AM.  Portions of North Alabama received more than an inch of snow, including 1.5 inches at the National Weather Service office in Huntsville.

Dry weather will return to Central and South Alabama this afternoon as colder winds blow.  Temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s before sunrise Thursday, with wind chill values plunging into the teens.  Actual temperatures probably won’t climb out of the lower 40s tomorrow, despite a good supply of sunshine.
