Prattville High School delays start of school year due to construction
Students at Prattville High School will get a couple of extra days added to their summer break due to construction on campus.
The school is part of the Autauga County school system, which starts the school year on Thursday, August 7. Students at Prattville High School won’t have to return until Monday, August 11, giving them two extra days off.
The students will not have to make up the lost days because school system officials tell Action 8 News that there is enough time built into the school calendar unless school is disrupted for a period of time later in the year.
The school system says a contractor hadn’t finished restrooms in time for the work to undergo inspection.
Today’s Open House at the school is still happening, but due to the ongoing construction, students will not be able to tour the building with their schedules.
All activities planned in the gym will continue as scheduled. Families will be able to pick up finalized schedules and receive information about parking passes, bus transportation and other resources.
Parents who have questions are encouraged to contact Prattville High School principal Daniel Farris or Autauga County School Supt. Lyman Woodfin.
