Kids at Troy’s Christian Love Center are getting a hands-on experience in gardening while giving back.
Coordinators say they’re teaching kids about responsibility. The Youth Community Garden also teaches them about healthy eating and how food is grown…
Food grown is grown year-round in the garden. It includes strawberries, broccoli, and greens. Each week, food grown in the garden is taken to children with disabilities in the community.
“We also take them to elderly who can’t get out and do what we can do. A lot of kids can’t get out and can’t run around. We have some kids that are in wheelchairs and things like that,” says Youth Coordinator Lawanda Bell.
The center also offers a on-site food pantry and clothing closet for those those in need, in the community.
