i-Team Cold Case: Who killed Rickem Samuels?

Investigators are still trying to solve a cold case murder where a Montgomery man was initially reported missing, but his remains were later found in some woods.

19-year-old Rickem Samuels was last seen on April 2, 20216 getting into a black Nissan Versa with a male co-worker and another unfamiliar man in the parking lot of Walmart on East South Boulevard.

Two days later,  Samuels was reported missing, then over two months later, Samuel’s remains were found in a wooded area on South Hopper Street.

Investigators say shortly after he was reported missing, his team lead, Nanette Thomas, at Hyundai Glovis reached out to his family to help find him.

Days later, Thomas also went missing and to this day, she has never been found.

According to the Montgomery Police Department, the two cases are not connected.

As the years have passed, Samuel’s mother, Ericka Davis, shared that her frustrations lie with the lack of communication and progress from local law enforcement.

“You don’t get any phone calls. They tell you that they’re going to call you and they don’t call you. Whenever they call I always go back to my notes because I want to see if it’s the same thing you said the last time and most of the time it is, they just word it in a different manner,” said Davis.

It’s been nine years since Samuels was killed and his case still hasn’t been solved.
