8-year-old dies in Montgomery apartment fire

Montgomery firefighters are investigating an apartment fire that claimed the life of a child and injured two others.

It happened around 8:09 a.m. Sunday in the 3900 block of Woodley Road.

Once firefighters arrived, they found a two-story apartment building with visible smoke and flames.

Firefighters began to extinguish the flames.

During a primary dsearch, they located three occupants: an adult male and two juveniles.

All three were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

One of the juveniles, an 8-year-old boy, was pronounced dead upon arrival. The other two remain in critical condition.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
