Buddhist monks make stop in the Capital City

A group of Buddhist monks are continuing their journey to the Nation’s Capital in an effort to promote peace.

The group arrived in Montgomery Monday night stopping at the Union Station Train Shed before continuing their journey Tuesday to the State Capitol.

Organizers say the purpose behind the Walk for Peace is to promote hope, harmony and healing for people everywhere.

People gathered throughout downtown Montgomery to wish them well as they headed to Washington, D.C.

The group also stopped by Montgomery City Hall where Mayor Reed presented a proclamation before continuing their journey.
