One person dead after weekend shooting in Selma

A man has died after a weekend shooting in Selma, according to police.

Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford tells Action 8 News that the department is investigating a homicide that happened early Saturday morning.

Fulford says officers responded to reports of a shooting at around 3 A.M. in the 600 Block of Ravenwood Drive. When officers arrived, they found a victim, identified as Jaquawn Tyus.

Tyus died while en route to the hospital.

Police has identified a person of interest in the investigation.

Police are still investigating what led up to the shooting. Chief Fulford says the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

“This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones,” says Fulford. “Our department is committed to conducting a thorough and timely investigation to
determine what happened and to hold those responsible accountable.”
