Woman arrested on fraud, other charges in Opelika
Opelika police say they’ve arrested a woman who’s accused of trying to take out a loan in her husband’s name without his knowledge.
Police say on Tuesday, December 30, they began investigating an attempted fraud. They say they were told that 58-year-old
Tammy Renee Caudle had been trying to take out a $150,000 home equity loan on a property owned by her husband.
Police say Caudle tried to forge her husband’s identity on numerous occasions to secure the loan.
Police say they spoke with the husband, who had no knowledge of the loan.
Caudle has been arrested on charges of residential mortgage fraud, second-degree forgery and bribery of public servants. She was booked into the Lee County Jail.
