From the West Alabama Newsroom–
2015 closed out in Selma with a rash of shootings that resulted in two murders — and now authorities are working to make sure the new year doesn’t start off as violently as the old year ended.
Police have beefed up patrols and detectives are working around the clock to catch the people police say are responsible for a series of retaliation shootings.
Two people were killed two people and two others were injured in about a half dozen shootings last week that included a shootout.
Glentravious Olds — Clarence Brenson — Antonio Whatley — Alfred Parnell — are all wanted by police in connection with the shootings.
“The safety of the community is the utmost importance. That’s the key, the safety of the community,” said Dallas Co. District Attorney Michael Jackson. “Because bullets don’t have eyes. When people get to shooting innocent folks get hit.”
Fredrick Tucker has already been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with the shootings. He’s being held in the Dallas County jail on $250,000 dollars bond.
