Salvation Army closing thrift store and service center in Selma

The Salvation Army is closing its Selma Thrift Store and Service Center on Broad Street. Today is the final day after 25 years of operation.

“I’m going to miss them,” store customer Barbara Lewis told Action 8 News. “It’s just one of my favorite stores.”

The Salvation Army says it will continue serving the Selma community through its Demopolis Service Center, which provides clothing, food, utility and seasonal assistance, including the Angel Tree.

If you need support, contact The Salvation Army in Demopolis at (334) 289-6090. The Demopolis Service Center is located at 900 U.S. Highway 80 East in Demopolis. It is open Monday–Friday, 9AM until 4PM.

Sales from The Salvation Army’s Thrift Stores support local programs and services that help individuals and families in need. Community members interested in continuing their support are encouraged to donate gently used clothing and household items to the Demopolis Service Center.
