Some rain, but near-record warm weather continues this weekend
Friday morning began with locally dense fog in some locations, and a mainly cloudy sky in others. However, the fog mixed out by midday, though the sky was still mostly cloudy in many locations at noon. Even with a partly to mostly cloudy sky Friday afternoon, temperatures warm into the low and mid 80s. Montgomery tied the March 5th record high temperature of 85° from 1880 and 1989 Thursday.
The March 6th record high is 86°, Montgomery could approach that mark Friday afternoon. Isolated showers or storms may also form in our area during the afternoon and early evening. However, most of our area remains dry through Friday night. Otherwise, low clouds and fog develop again early Saturday morning, with low temperatures in the low 60s.
Chances for rain rise some this weekend, though much of Saturday looks dry. Showers and perhaps some storms arrive Saturday evening. While the storm prediction center says there’s a marginal (level 1/5) severe risk Saturday, it looks like any storms weaken as they arrive in our area. A strong wind gust may be possible from a stronger storm, but even that looks very unlikely.
Rain coverage decreases Saturday night as the evening shower/storm activity weakens. Scattered showers and some storms remain possible Sunday, with a mostly cloudy sky otherwise. That may hold temperatures in the 70s during the afternoon. Sunday night trends drier, but clouds linger into Monday. More showers and perhaps some storms form Monday afternoon.
Tuesday looks drier, but another round of rain and possibly storms arrives Wednesday into Thursday. That round arrives along our next cold front. While high temperatures remain in the low 80s early next week, the front looks likely to push through our area at this time. That results in temperatures closer to normal late next week, with highs in the low 70s Thursday and Friday, and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
