Witness known as “Squirmy” takes stand in Ibraheem Yazeed capital murder trial

Day three of testimony in the Ibraheem Yazeed capital murder trial in Macon County brought a witness known as “Squirmy” to the stand.

Squirmy’s real name is Antione Fischer. He was with Yazeed the night that prosecutors say 19-year-old Aniah Blanchard was killed after being abducted from a gas station in Auburn.

Fischer was on the stand for about three hours.

Other witnesses called to the stand were Angel Wyatt, a friend of Yazeed, and “Little Dave,” another friend of Yazeed who drove him to Florida where he was later arrested and charged with Blanchard’s murder.

Aniah Blanchard

Blanchard was from Homewood and was a student at Southern Union Community College. She was the stepdaughter of UFC fighter Walt Harris.

She was last seen in a gas station in Auburn in October 2019. Evidence showed Yazeed was in the gas station at the same time she was.

Her car was found at an apartment complex in Montgomery. There was blood inside.

Her body was later found in woods in Macon County, about a month after her disappearance. Evidence showed that she had been shot in the head.

Yazeed faces three capital counts:

Capital Murder during a kidnapping
Capital Murder during a robbery
Capital Murder involving a victim’s vehicle

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
