A campaign aimed at Alabama’s infrastructure continues to bring awareness to road resurfacing and bridge replacement.
Concerned citizens and state representatives joined Pike County Officials for a Drive Alabama Campaign Tour. Pike County Engineer Russell Oliver, pointed out several areas in the county that are in desperate need of repairs.
Those roads are also dangerous for bus drivers and students to travel each day. Officials say they cause detours and are costly to the county school board.
“We want everyone to understand what many of our citizens have to deal with everyday, driving on these roads,” says Oliver.
Oliver says there may be proposals during next month’s legislative session to increase revenue, hopefully providing more money to repair roads and bridges.
