Tornadowatch061826

ACTION 8 WEATHER AUTHORITY (WAKA) – Part of the Action 8 viewing area is under a TORNADO WATCH until 5PM CDT this afternoon.

The watch includes the following counties:

Baldwin
Butler
Choctaw
Clarke
Conecuh
Covington
Crenshaw
Dallas
Escambia
Greene
Hale
Lowndes
Marengo
Mobile
Monroe
Perry
Sumter
Washington
Wilcox

The primary threats include: Several tornadoes likely, isolated damaging wind gusts to 70MPH possible

A very strong low-level wind field will move northeastward across the region today and interact with a moist environment, supporting the potential for supercells capable of tornadoes.

A TORNADO WATCH means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.

Now is the time to prepare. First, download the free Action 8 weather app:

Next, make sure you have more than one way to get weather alerts. A NOAA weather radio in addition to your phone (with your emergency alerts turned on) make for a good combination. Do not depend on sirens to keep you protected.

Know where to go inside your home if severe weather is imminent. If you live in a mobile home, you need to find sturdy shelter somewhere else. Plan now for what you will do.

Action 8 News will bring you live coverage on-air, online and on your phone. We will be staffed around the clock until the severe weather threat passes.
