Reward increased in unsolved Montgomery homicide investigation
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – A $7,000 reward is now being offered in an 2023 homicide investigation in Montgomery.
Police say on February 11 at 10:35 p.m., officers responded to the 4900 block of Hatton Avenue after receiving reports of a person shot.
Once they arrived, they found 52-year-old Yvette Carter suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have released surveillance images of three suspects believed to be connected to the homicide. According to detectives, the suspects arrived in a small black sedan with factory rims and no window tint before the shooting.
The individuals were wearing hooded sweatshirts. One suspect was seen wearing all black with a white or gray hood, black pants, and white shoes, while pulling what appeared to be a rifle from his pants prior to the shooting.
The investigation remains active, and detectives are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the shooting to come forward.
The reward includes:
- $5,000 from CrimeStoppers 215-STOP
- $1,000 donated by Montgomery City Councilman Oronde K. Mitchell
- $1,000 donated by Montgomery County Commissioner Carmen Moore-Zeigler
