Military helicopter from Ft. Rucker crashes in Covington County

COVINGTON COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – Action 8 News has confirmed that a military helicopter from Ft. Rucker has crashed in Covington County.

Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman told Action 8 News that the crash happened in a field on Cool Springs Road near the Coffee County line.

Turman says two pilots from Ft. Rucker and a third person were on board at the time. They weren’t hurt, but they were taken to a hospital in Dothan for evaluation.

Sheriff Turman says it appears that the helicopter lost power and crashed. He says the helicopter is a UH-72 Lakota.
