Pink and Pearls for Girls to Host Empowerment Event on Capitol Steps
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Girls from across the River Region are invited to strike a pose while celebrating confidence, leadership and empowerment during a special International Day of the Girl event this fall.
Pink and Pearls for Girls Inc. is hosting its “Girls on Top of the World” citywide photo shoot on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 to 10 a.m. on the steps of the Alabama State Capitol.
The event is open to girls ages 3 to 18 and is designed to celebrate International Day of the Girl while encouraging young people to believe in themselves and their potential.
Grace Harvey and Jenae Ware with Pink and Pearls for Girls recently spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about the importance of creating opportunities that inspire girls to dream big and recognize their value.
Organizers say the event is part of a global movement recognizing International Day of the Girl, which celebrates the achievements of girls while raising awareness of the challenges many continue to face around the world.
Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite outfits, bring their biggest smiles and join what organizers hope will be a historic display of girl empowerment and unity.
